10 Sock Care Tips That Will Make Your Socks Last Twice as Long

Most people throw away socks far too early. With the right care, a quality pair of socks can last 12-18 months of regular wear. Here are 10 tips that will double the life of your socks.
1. Turn Socks Inside Out Before Washing
Turning socks inside out before washing removes dead skin cells more effectively and protects the outer design from friction in the washing machine. This is especially important for Afropop Socks' bold African heritage designs.
2. Wash at 30°C or Below
Hot water weakens cotton fibres and fades colours. 30°C is the optimal temperature for cotton socks.
3. Never Use Fabric Softener
Fabric softener coats cotton fibres with a waxy residue that reduces moisture absorption and destroys the elastic in the sock top. Use a gentle detergent instead.
4. Air Dry When Possible
Tumble drying at high heat shrinks cotton and damages elastic. Air drying extends sock life significantly.
5. Don't Wring Wet Socks
Wringing wet socks stretches the fibres. Instead, gently squeeze out excess water and lay flat to dry.
6. Store Socks Flat, Not Rolled
