How to Care for African Heritage Socks: Washing and Storage Guide

Premium African heritage socks are designed to maintain their bold colours and pattern definition for 50+ washes when properly cared for. The combed cotton and colourfast dyes used in manufacturing are durable, but following these care guidelines ensures maximum longevity and vibrancy.

Washing Instructions

Machine wash at 30°C (cold/warm cycle) with similar colours. Turn socks inside out before washing to protect the pattern surface from friction with other garments. Use mild detergent — avoid bleach and fabric softener, which can break down cotton fibres and affect colour vibrancy over time.

Drying

Air dry flat or hang dry away from direct sunlight. Avoid tumble drying — the heat can shrink cotton fibres and fade colours prematurely. If you must use a dryer, use the lowest heat setting for the shortest time possible.

Storage

Store folded (not balled) in a drawer away from direct sunlight. Balling socks stretches the elastic over time, reducing the snug fit. Folding preserves shape, elasticity, and pattern alignment for years of wear.
