What are African socks made of? If you're considering buying Afropop Socks, here's everything you need to know about the materials, quality, and care.
Materials
Primary material: Premium combed cotton blend (80% cotton, 17% polyamide, 3% elastane). Combed cotton is softer and stronger than regular cotton, the combing process removes short fibres and impurities, leaving only the longest, strongest fibres.
Why combed cotton? It's the ideal material for bold printed socks. It holds colour better than regular cotton, feels softer against the skin, and is more durable through repeated washing.
Construction Quality
200-needle thread count: Higher needle count = finer, more detailed patterns. Our 200-needle construction allows the intricate Kente cloth, Adinkra symbol, and Maasai warrior patterns to be reproduced with precision.
Bump-free toe: Hand-linked toe seam for a smooth, comfortable fit with no irritating bumps.
Stretch comfort cuffs: Ribbed cuffs that stay up without cutting off circulation.
How to Wash African Socks
- Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
- Turn inside out before washing to protect patterns
- Use mild, colour-safe detergent, no bleach
- Lay flat or hang to dry, don't tumble dry
- Do not iron directly on printed areas
