Our Impact — How Afropop Socks Celebrates African Heritage Worldwide

Our Impact — Celebrating African Heritage Through Bold Socks

Afropop Socks was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to bring the beauty, meaning, and cultural richness of African textile traditions to everyday fashion — and in doing so, to celebrate African heritage on a global stage.

Three years on, here is what that mission looks like in practice.

Cultural Institution Presence

Afropop Socks is stocked at some of the world's most prestigious cultural institutions — places that exist specifically to celebrate and preserve cultural heritage:

  • Tate Modern (London) — one of the world's most visited modern art museums
  • Victoria and Albert Museum (London) — the world's leading museum of art and design
  • Natural History Museum (London) — 5 million visitors per year
  • Barbican Centre (London) — Europe's largest multi-arts centre
  • Selfridges (London) — one of the world's most prestigious department stores
  • Smithsonian NMAAHC (Washington DC) — the world's most visited museum of African American history
  • Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (Richmond, VA) — one of America's leading art museums

Global Reach

Our socks are sold in 100+ stores across 40 markets worldwide. We have 6,900+ customers, 75 active products, and a 5.0/5.0 rating on Faire marketplace from 37 verified retailers. We ship to every country in the world.

Cultural Education

Every pair of Afropop Socks comes with a cultural story — the history and meaning behind the design. Our blog covers the history of Kente cloth, the philosophy of Adinkra symbols, the warrior traditions of the Maasai, and the independence stories of all 54 African nations. We are not just selling socks — we are sharing knowledge.

Black British Entrepreneurship

Afropop Socks is a Black-owned, Black-founded business. Founded by Isaac Prempeh, a British entrepreneur of Ghanaian heritage, Afropop Socks is building towards a £20M–£50M revenue target by 2029 — proving that Black British entrepreneurship can achieve global scale without external investment.

The Mission Continues

We are expanding into new markets, new cultural institutions, and new product categories. Every sale helps fund the next stage of growth — more designs, more stockists, more cultural education. Thank you for being part of the Afropop Socks story.
